County District Departments of Criminal Investigation and Prosecution
In the county districts prosecutor’s offices where the volume of criminal investigations justifies it may be created, by order of the Government member responsible for the area of justice and on the proposal of the High Council of the Public Prosecution Service, Departments of Criminal Investigation and Prosecution (DCIP), article 85(1)(2) of the Statute of the Public Prosecution Service/SPPS).
The county district DCIPs comprises all the Public Prosecution Service units responsible for conducting the investigation and prosecution in the respective territorial area (article 85(3)(6) of the SPPS).
The county district DCIPs can be structured in deconcentrated units and assume the designation of the county district in which they are located. These units may be organized into sections of general or specialized competence (article 85 (4)(5) of the SPPS). Investigative teams and mission units may also be set up to coordinate the department's activities in support of procedural activities (article 85(7) of the SPPS).
The county district DCIPs are led by a deputy prosecutor general or by a state prosecutor assigned to the county district prosecutors office (article 86 and 159 of the SPPS).
