Curriculum Vitae of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Portugal

Amadeu Francisco Ribeiro Guerra was born in 1955, in Tábua, in the district of Coimbra.

In 1978, he graduated in Law from the University of Lisbon.

He attended the Centre for Judicial Studies between 1980 and 1981, the year he was admitted to the Public Prosecution Service.

He performed functions at Lisbon’s county until he joined, in 1991, the Steering Office for Judicial Computerisation.

In December 1993, he was appointed to the National Commission for the Protection of Personal Data, a position he held until 2006.

In June 2004, he was promoted to Deputy Prosecutor General.

He performed functions as a Legal Auditor at the Ministry for Public Works, Transport and Communications between 2006 and 2008, the year in which he was appointed to the South Central Administrative Court, having been assigned to the post of coordinator of this court in February 2009.

In March 2013, he was appointed director of the Central Department of Criminal Investigation and Prosecution (DCIAP), a post he held until his appointment as Lisbon’s District Deputy Prosecutor General in January 2019.

He retired with full honours in August 2020.

On 12 October 2024, Amadeu Francisco Ribeiro Guerra was sworn in as the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Portugal.
