7 Sep 2016

The President of the Republic made an official visit to the Central Department of Criminal Investigation and Prosecution (CDCIP) last Wednesday accompanied by the Minister of Justice and the Prosecutor General of the Republic.

The President of the Republic visited the CDCIP’s premises and met with the Public Prosecutors who work therein.

The CDCIP is a body entrusted with the coordination and the direction of the investigation and with the prevention of violent, highly organised or particularly complex crime, a component that was emphasized by the President of the Republic.

At the end of the visit the President of the Republic affirmed his strong commitment to the successful operation of the criminal investigation, which he firmly believes to be “a key component” of Justice.

In his own words, the purpose of the visit was to hear, to see the working conditions and to express the President of the Republic’s incentive «so that the citizens’ wish may be attained, i.e. that justice be served».
